DescriptionStandard cast steel whaling lance complete with shank and wooden handle and iron strap (rope) attached. Socket served with marline. Cordage tied around wood handle in two places. Loop of rope attached to butt-end of handle. Still has some of the orange protective paint still extant. Includes sheath made of wood and gray, painted canvas.Provenance"HWK" numbered objects are from Henry W. Kendall's personal collection, distinct from the larger Kendall Whaling Museum collection.
