DescriptionToggle harpoon. Remnants of red lead paint on head and shaft. Pole of nearly circular cross-section, handformed, smooth and clean. Wood sheath covered with hand sewn canvas painted black. Socket served with marline, line (iron strap) ending in eye splice secured to harpoon by double hitch and splice, secured two places with marline.ProvenanceHarpoon belonged to donor's grandfather who was a Whaling Captain
