DescriptionA wooden lightship was placed off the "Hen and Chickens" shoal of Buzzards Bay as early as 1866. The lightship, renamed "Buzzards Bay" in 1954, was moved to the center of the Bay.

One of the historic photographs that are part of the Buzzards Bay Exhibition at the New Bedford Whaling Museum through June 20 - October 31, 1986.
