DescriptionMedium-sized walrus tusk, monochrome engraved on one side only, drilled tip (remnanat of original barter pair), with squared edges, bottom flattened; the root end carved full round in the image of the head and forepaws of a polar bear, the ears and eyebrows drilled and monochrome pigmented, the eyes inlaid in baleen. Recto: monochrome engraved with a striped seal on an ice floe; cribbage board with three central vignettes: a scene that appears to be pack ice cracking, with an animal emerging in the center; head of a seal; head of a polar bear.
