DescriptionFive men with slabs of whalebone (baleen) captured by Hartson H. Bodfish standing outside of the counting rooms of William Lewis & Sons. In 1893 the counting house of William Lewis was located at 33 East Street, San Francisco which street was later renamed "The Embarcadero."
