DescriptionTwo-piece whale ivory needle case (body and slide-on cap) shaped like an elongated shield; circular inlays of silver metal and a copper-colored material on the front and back; two rectangular recessed spaces on the front (one on the body, one on the cap) for tortoise shell inlays (missing: see companion piece); slip-on gold-colored metal band around skirt of lid (a third, removable piece; missing on companion piece).
