DescriptionTall clock in walnut veneered case with a flat top and ogee molding and beaded cornices repeated at the top of waist and base. A square door holds a circular brass bezel with glass. A rectangular glass door at the waist reveals the mercury pendulum which swings over the scale to show the arc of the swing. The top and waist have canted corners with lambs tongues at top and bottom. The dial has three separate arbors. The movement has dead beat escapement and maintaining power.ProvenanceAccording to an attached card, this clock was made by J.G. Fowler, a maker of chronometers for James Munroe, Jeweller and Seller of Nautical Instruments at 98 Union Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts. It was bought by William L. Kelley in 1875, then willed to Horace L. Humphrey in 1917. Later it passed into the possession of Dr. Harold E. Perry, from whose house it came to the Museum. On View
