DescriptionTwo-piece whale ivory construction: baluster handle with squared edges has architectonic trim at each end, mortised with a non-ferrous metal pin to the foreshaft with a baleen separator; the handle with a nonfunctional complementary pin at the other end; the foreshaft with squared edges in the abstract form of a hand with pointing finger, terminating below the "pinky" in a large four-tine fork, the "pointing finger" forming a trifid saddle supporting a large whale ivory fluted wheel with non-ferrouns axle.
