DescriptionTapered wooden shaft, brass tip; curved handle formed from three segments of whale ivory with six bands of wood and four of whale ivory; the outermost segment full-round carved in the form of the head of an eagle, feathery texture carved in shallow relief, the eyes formed by a wooden dowel post in a drilled-through hole, the beak partly open; fastened to the shaft with a through-drilled wooden dowel.ProvenanceAcquired from (possibly) Elizabeth Watson per old card #785 from the old donor file.
