DescriptionLightweight tapered panbone shaft, surmounted by a wide band of baleen, a wide band of whale ivory, and a disc separator of baleen; L-shaped whale ivory handle set at a right angle to the shaft, the forward end of which is full-round carved in the form of the head of a dog, with the eyes and pupils inlaid in wood and baleen; relief-carved suggestion of front legs down the front of the handle, separator, and whale ivory band.
