DescriptionA brass taper jack complete with extinguisher (snuffer) on a short chain hanging from the saucer plate under the bell tube grip. The grip is in two sections which opens with force of fingers. The spring device at the top of the stem opens and closes grip when raising or replacing wax taper. A small crooked handle is attached to base. Two pieces of wax taper still extant.ProvenanceMade in England mainly for sealing envelops but sometimes used as lights.
