DescriptionAn irregular-shaped piece of fine grain Arkansas stone is inserted into a wood block. The whetstone is a rectangular wooden block tapered at one end with a half round cut at the bottom of the wide end. A groove is worn from there along the bottom.ProvenanceSaid to have belonged to Captain Stephen B. Gibbs (ONTARIO of Nantucket 1840 & 1843; NAPOLEON of New Bedford 1846
