DescriptionPair of Backgammon dice cups; part of a backgammon set (39 pieces total) of tooled leather and wood, with vignettes of sperm whales and whaling. Cup is embossed (hand-stamped) with two sperm whales; lined with tan felt. Hand sewn.ProvenanceArtist name also seen as "B. Pipia" or "S. Pipia". Whaling vignettes from an unidentified American source in the manner of George Gale, Gordon Grant and George Wales.
