DescriptionBroadside honoring Capt. Charles Marchant, a whaling captain of Gloucester, 1898. Reads "Complimentary to the Veteran Capt. Chas. Marchant, of Gloucester, 87 years of age. Monday Evening, Aug. 22, 1898. At Ocean View House, Pigeon Cove. Mrs. Molly D. Saunders, Vocalist, Miss Alice F. York, Pianist. Capt. Marchant who in early times commanded the Sch. Flying Arrow on a whaling voyage from Gloucester, will give Reminiscenes of his whaling experiences, describing the species of whales, the oceans they frequent, their habits and food, how they are captured, etc. Relics of whales captured by Capt. Marchant will be on exhibition. Commence at eight o'clock. A collection will be taken."
