DescriptionPhotograph from the production of Trevor Housby's The Hand of God: Whaling in the Azores (Abelard-Schuman, 1971), which depicts Azorean whaling during Housby's visit in 1969. Caption for the photo (#49) in the book reads, "The lines of two canoas have crossed and the harpooner and first oarsman look worried. The whale line is tight anough to walk on and the whale is obviously right underneath the boat."
