DescriptionThese three videos are made from films (unedited) taken by Capt. Harold Salvesen during visits to the Salvesen whaling fleets in the Antarctic and the company's land-station at South Georgia between 1928 and 1955. A commentary was added to them in 1998 by Sir Gerald Elliot, who accompanied Capt. Salvesen to the Antarctic in 1948/49 and 1951/52 and became later one of the home managers of the whaling fleets. The videos are accompanied by brief notes, evidently made by Capt. Salvesen, with marginal comments by G.B. ElliotProvenanceGifted to the Kendall Whaling Museum.
