DescriptionApproximately 1,200 photographs and approximately 40 postcards. Also, 11 x 14 photo album/box containing original prints with captions. From the collection of Lewis L. Robbins, M.D. Robbins was a physician, collector, and whaling historian. He was associated with the Menninger Foundation out of Topeka Kansas during the 1940s and 1950s. He was later a resident at Sands Point and Port Washington, Long Island, NY. Robbins had a special interest in modern whaling, especially on the Northwest coast. He also visited and photographed Rose Harbour, B.C. in 1939. The collection includes the Rose Harbour Whaling Station, manuscripts, documents, paper ephemera, unoublished essay and transcriptions, printed reports, periodicals, etc., pertaining to his interest in maritime history, membership in Mystic Seaport, etc. Acquired in 1985.On View
