Description"Charlie Brower's boy". Cabinet card of a boy in arctic furs standing on the deck of a ship, holding a Winchester carbine, with snow-clad mountains in the background; identified on verso. Charles Bower was the principal whaling station manager and, later, the principal whaling and fur trading entrepreneur at Point Barrow. The photo was probably taken by Sophie Porter and is ex the personal collection of Hannah Sherman Raffa, granddaughter of Captain Albert C. Sherman.
