DescriptionSargent Charles Gill and family standing in front of their home at Fort Rodman. Left to right: John, Bernard, Katherine, Sgt. Gill, Mary and Mrs. Gill. Sgt. Gill for several years, was the only Army person at the Fort and was a care-taker. As a young boy he ran away from home to join the Army during the Civil War. Later he served at Western forts, sometimes fighting the Indians.
