DescriptionWhaling bark Swallow. Built as a ship in Fairhaven in 1856, Swallow was altered to a bark in 1869 when Edward C. Jones acquired a half interest in her. William C. N. Swift acquired her in 1876, and in 1894 she was sold to Boston owners. The following year she was condemned at Rio de Janeiro but returned to New Bedford, where she remained in the registry through 1900.
