DescriptionA plaque on the machine reads: Mincing by hand was laborious and time consuming, requiring one man to cut and another to handle the sliced blubber. With this machine, one man could perform both operations with the turn of the hand crank. A labor-saving device in theory, in practice, the machine did not work well enough to gain wide acceptance.
