He was born in Brava, Cape Verde and migrated to New Bedford on a whaler. Manuel J. Domingues b. 7/2/1902 Brava, Cape Verde. Left Cape Verde in 1917 as a crew member of the Cameo, went to Brazil. His father was the captain of the Cameo; He was paid a total of $80.00. He first arrived in the US in 1918.
The Cameo was later converted from a whaler to a packet ship. Mr. Domingues entered the Merchant Marine in 1920.

Manuel J. Domingues born Brava, 1902 died New Bedford 1989. Worked in the merchant marine (Gulf Oil Company) after beginning his sailing career as a whalemen and a packet master. Please note any changes in the records as well as any label text. I have his obituary here.
