DescriptionAn American life ring of cork or kapok covered with canvas and painted light green. The life ring/lifebuoy/life preserver/ring buoy was used onboard the bark Charles W. Morgan of New Bedford some time after 1899. The ring has "Charles W. Morgan * New Bedford" in black block letters around one side. There are three loops of 1/2" manila line attached to the periphery.Provenance"HWK" numbered objects are from Henry W. Kendall's personal collection, distinct from the larger Kendall Whaling Museum collection. On View
