DescriptionA swallow-tail flag with a blue cross on a white background. "Petrel" is written in the hoist.ProvenanceFlag of the Petrel. There two vessels called "Petrel" sailing from New Bedford between 1853 and 1893. One was a schooner that was built at Newburyport, MA in 1840. It capsized in a gale at sea on October 28, 1879, with 6 survivors rescued November 2. One was a 350 ton ship built at Rochester in 1853 and condemned and broken up at Cpe Verde in 1893.
