DescriptionAn unmarked, craftsman-made ruler for shoes. The rule has two interlocking clothspin-type measures carved from boxwood. The ruler is embellished with lines and decorative stampings. One edge has two consecutive scales from 1 to 13 in 1/3" increments. The other piece has one scale from 1 to 6 (in 1/3" increments). These are probably show size scales for children, women's, and men's shoe sizes. The dowels at the ends suggest missing pieces.
