The outer borders are floral scroll and eight stars in bright blue and hot pink, green, and yellow. The rug was worked on board the maiden voyage of the WANDERER by Capt. Andrew Heyer's (first) wife. She died in childbirth on St. Helena in 1881 before finishing the work. Capt. Heyer left the ship to care for his daughter.
