DescriptionBeaver army hat with black silk cockade on one side and featuring brass Massachusetts Militia buttons on either side of the head. Gold braid decoration on either end. Evidence of white feather indicates that it once featured a plume (hole in the crown), now missing. Lined with black silk.ProvenanceGovernor John H. Clifford, 1809-1876.
