DescriptionJavanese "Wayang Golek" wooden rod puppet. The body is painted gold decorated with a necklace and arm bangles. The face is painted red with narrow eyes and a thin moustache, adorned with a carved conical headpiece; the delicate and polite facial expression indicates that the puppet represents a protagonist of some sort, perhaps a warrior or hero. The cotton clothing is of traditional court attire, with a red sash and stiped bottom (stripes are approximately 2 1/2" in width). The arms and head are flexible at the joints, and are made moveable with attached sticks.On View
