DescriptionThe swift contains a small single cage made of skeletal whalebone and fastened with one row of yellow metal rivets. The ends of the struts and ribs are tied with a faded peach colored ribbon. Upper and lower sprockets have 18 slots. The shaft is made of skeletal whalebone. There is a "C" shaped clamp that attaches to a table horizontally using a thumbscrew, both pieces are made from whale ivory. There is a double cup finial made from turned whale ivory and the bottom of the cup contains a button shaped piece of inlaid abalone.ProvenanceLabelled "Mrs. Delane Forbes"
