DescriptionPlain wooden box, purpose unknown, with high crested "Dutch" ends, drilled/pierced at the top to accommodate the dowel ends of a handle (absent); ferrous fastenings. Notches carved in opposite sides toward one end indicate the former presence of a divider (missing); a drilled hole in the bottom with wear marks suggests fastening onto some platform or surface.ProvenanceTags inside tray: L 722 / Knife Tray / Loaned by C. W. Walter (ca. 1929) Also noted: Slocum loan collection. Checked against registrar's books and it is listed as early loan.
