DescriptionPolychrome scrimshawed busk, decorated on both sides. Flat strip of whalebone, straight sides, round at both ends. On one side : geometric designs in red, green and black. Initials MJC at one end, urn with flowers in center, decorative heart opposite end. On other side, lengthwide: whaling scene; ship with sails set and red hull at right, green and red wavy water along bottom edge; eight whales, four whaleboats, one whaleboat being stove in.ProvenanceMartha M.
