DescriptionHandle of whale ivory comprised of two uncommonly long, flat cheeks with scalloped and reverse scalloped edges, joined together with transverse struts of whale ivory and fastened with four nonferrous metal rivets; the outer surfaces engraved with flowering leafy vines, the head carved as the silhouette of an eagle, engraved with feathers and eyes; the head forming a saddle for a fluted whale ivory wheel, the nostrils formed by the non-ferrous axle.
