Loose items in boat include steering oar, pulling oar, loose triangular floor board sections, wood rudder, rusty stock anchor, wood mast collar with hinged bronze partner, thwart and wooden pump.ProvenanceLincoln Blassi,owner told John Bockstoce in 1976 that the boat had been salvaged from the steambark BALAENA (owned by Pacific Steam Whaling Co. when wrecked 1n 1901 at Siknik Cape,St Lawrence Island. It was used for spring shore whaling & summer travel until 1940 when it was laid up on boat rack until Bockstoce took it to Nome for cradling.
