DescriptionDouble layer of white cotton w/shoulder straps & brass eyes. Hand sewn & embroidered with pale yellow silk thread thread. Smocked cording on either side of busk pocket which runs down the center & is closed w/lace at the bottom. Five narrow stay channels on either side of center.A young woman named Nancy in Waldoboro, Maine, is said to have made this as her wedding corset after a Paris model; the busk by William Acorn (1978.8.B) was reportedly made for this corset in anticipation of the same occasion. The corset was never worn again after the wedding and remained in the family.
