DescriptionThis delicate silver teaspoon has a pointed oval bowl, narrow neck fanning to a flat pointed engraved handle. The front decoration at the pointed end has a fluted diamond, and with "M" inscribed in script in the center. The handle has engraved curves with dots and a smaller diamond. The reverse of bowl has a colonial shell motif, while the reverse of the handle is stamped JDelano. Jabez Delano (1763-1848) was born in New Bedford and worked as a silversmith in the city. He married his cousin Deborah Delano (1770-1810) in 1796. After she died, he then married his cousin Mary Delano (1779-1814), who died less than a month later. On View
