DescriptionPolychrome engraved both sides. Recto: Larboard broadside view of a full-rigged ship with gunports (false gunports?) under partial sail (topgallants and main course clewed up), flying USA flag at the tafrail, pennants aloft at the fore and main, a long pennant at the mizen [sic]; surmounted by a sprig of thistle with two leaves and two blossoms. Verso: girl in fur-trimmed (ermine?) coat with muff, wide-brimmed hat with bow, plume feather, and ribbon; surmounted by a spring of Tudor rose with one flower, two leaves, two buds, and thorny stem. Authenticity doubtful as whalemen's work. See 2011.26.7, source for image.
