DescriptionPith carving in shadow box with glass and wood frame and black cardboard/ ribbon across bottom written in Portuguese reads " Made of pith of a fig tree by Father John Da Silva for the benefit (or honor) of the Church of Flamengos totally destroyed by fire 1938" on the island of Fayal. Altar has central chalice with the Cross for faith on the left and the Anchor for hope of the right with grape vines to the right and wheat stalks to the left.
