DescriptionCrown Milano pitcher with painted enamelled floral decorations. Applied handle decorated with gilding and thorn-like protrusions. Crown Milano, is the exotic name given to decorated Opal wares. Emblematic of the Aesthetic Period, the palette features muted tones including gold, green, pink, rust, and beige. The decoration typically features an acid treatment, to create a matte finish, and gilt and enameled decoration in popular natural motifs. Like many other wares produced by Mount Washington, it was meant to resemble china.ProvenanceGift of Louis St. Aubin, Jr.On View
