DescriptionBurmese lemonade cup, shiny finish with applied handle, decorated with butterflies, fly and grasses. Burmese is an unlined opaque ware that blends from a vivid pink to yellow. Unlike peachblow, which varies considerably in color depending on who manufactured it, Burmese glass has the same color across the various makers. Queens Burmese- had local artists decorate the larger Burmese wares, and some smaller wares we're enameled. Decorating was done with gold and raised enamel, making the wares appear to be porcelain. On December 15, 1885, Mount Washington was granted a patent for Burmese glass, although it is believed that this glass was already in production for several years before that date.
