DescriptionDouble cartoon with poem. In the first cartoon a whale is quietly swimming up to a bathing beach where unsuspecting bathers are leaving their horsedrawn bathhouses and beginning to wade in the shallows. In the second cartoon, the whale spouts water and roars, causing the swimmers to race pell-mell out of the water.ProvenanceBelow image: poem by Fr. Ber-ter in German: "Wie enstehet Ebbe, Fluth?..."
