DescriptionThe whaleship NIGER is tied up at a wharf (harbor in New Bedford), with some sails shortened and others clewed. As seen from its port side it has painted gun ports, and a red flag flies from the mainmast. c. 1880.ProvenancePurchased from Heirlooms Unlimited by the Kendall Whaling Museum.
