DescriptionA cast brass door knocker in the shape of a monster whale/dolphin. The whale has large lips and a three-pronged tail. The knocker is mounted on a wood block.ProvenanceVirtually identical to the smaller of two mounted on the doors of a house at 70 Beacon Street, Boston, built in 1828 for Harrison Gray Otis (see HMPG, #93B, p. 101).
