DescriptionPolychrome engraved one side only, the image of a modern harpoon gunner in Antarctic parka, aiming a 90mm bow-chaser harpoon cannon on the prow of a whale chaser-boat. Verso: polished, undecorated. Mounted on a base of unidentified material, inscribed and dated in cursive Cyrillic, which translates as "Antarctic Whaling Fleet [floating-factory whaleship] Yurij Dolgorukij, 1973-74".

From the same source and acquired at the same time as a set of six bright polychrome teeth similarly laid out, with wooden stands: 1. A seal in the Antarctic pack (2001.100.2333); 2. A whale-catcher boat (2001.100.2338); 3. Penguins (2001.100.2337); 4. A gull or tern in flight (2001.100.2336); 5. A floating-factory whaleship (2001.100.2335); and 6. A harpoon gunner (2001.100..2334); dated variously 1947-1960.
