DescriptionForeshaft of a walrus-hunting harpoon fashioned from two substantial pieces of walrus ivory, each drilled through in two places (forming four surafce holes in each) and butt-joint lashed together with seal-skin rawhide and non-ferrous nails; the wider end (intended for insertion into a socket on the wooden shaft) is twice drilled through and chamfered to accommodate lashings (not present).On View
